Counselor Spotlight: Malia Shipe, LPC, SAP

Malia is a licensed professional counselor with over 27 years of experience in the field of counseling. She spent twenty years working in hospital and residential settings to help individuals and families with substance abuse concerns as well as working with children and parents regarding developmental and behavioral concerns. The last seven years Malia has been working in an outpatient setting with individuals helping them overcome obstacles to personal happiness while reducing emotional struggles and enriching the relationships in their lives.

 

Anne Frank’s words are an inspiration for Malia and those she counsels:  “How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.”

 

Malia believes that all people desire to be both happy and successful, though sometimes people run into obstacles in figuring out how to achieve these goals. She is honored to walk alongside her clients and help them find the joy that life holds.

 

Malia has experiences will many types of counseling but she specializes in working with women in life-transitions, individuals learning to live with chronic illness, children that feel anxious or are coping with changes in family dynamics and individuals who want to address concerns about substance use disorder.
