Child / Teen Counseling
Do you want to better understand your child or teen?
Are you frustrated with their choices?
Do you want your child or teen to better understand you?
Do you want your child to follow rules and experience consequences with growth?
Life presents children and teens with many changes and challenges such as bullying, divorce, blended families, drugs or alcohol, friendships, self-esteem, and rules. Your therapist can help your teen with issues that keep them from succeeding in life and finding their true selves.
We can also help parents better understand your children so you can have a healthier family dynamic. Your therapist can help you help establish reasonable and successful rules within your household. We can also help parents identify when their child or teen may need professional help vs. normal behavior patterns. We know it can be difficult at times to know what is going on with your child or teen during times in their life when they are trying to establish themselves and their independence.
We have specialized assessments for adolescents, children, and parents to help identify problems and solutions to help make the most of the counseling process. Parents are asked to be active participants in the counseling sessions at times, depending on your child’s age. Parents are the most influential people in a child’s life and as such, they can play a most important role in the counseling process and we can teach you new and different approaches to have a better relationship with your child.
If your child is under the age of 19, a parent or guardian will need to attend the first session to sign paperwork and your therapist will want to speak with you to hear your concerns and gather information. Confidentiality will also be discussed as it applies to your child.
